Job Description
A single, founding technical-commercial hire responsible for winning HVAC business, pricing it correctly, and seeing it through to final delivery of project. You will own the client relationship end-to-end — first enquiry, site survey, cooling load calculation, quotation, negotiation, close — then stay on as the client’s point of contact through subcontractor-managed installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
This is not a sales role with a technical title, nor an engineer who occasionally sells. You need to be credible running a cooling load calculation and a BOQ, and equally credible presenting a quotation and closing the deal, and capable of running a project through to handover without a separate project manager at first – as this is a startup.
Reports to: Business development manager
Compensation: Base salary + performance-based commission on closed business
Job Requirements
Requirements
- Mechanical/HVAC engineering degree or diploma, with genuine field experience — this is a technical hire first
- 4+ years’ UAE HVAC experience spanning technical estimation/design, direct client-facing sales, and hands-on project coordination
- Demonstrated, discussable track record of closing HVAC business
- Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, Dubai Municipality HVAC approval processes, UAE Civil Defence fire & life safety interface requirements, and ESMA equipment labeling requirements
- Proficiency in cooling load calculation software (e.g. HAP, Elite CHVAC or equivalent) and AutoCAD (or equivalent)
- Experience managing subcontractors and enforcing quality control on-site
- Comfortable operating independently with minimal oversight in the early stage of a new venture
- UAE driving license (site visits and client meetings required)
- Familiarity with Daikin, LG, Midea, or Gree product lines
- Prior experience with AMC service delivery and preventive maintenance scheduling
- Experience quoting for villa communities or facilities management clients
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Identify and develop new HVAC business across villa homeowners, community facilities management companies, contractors, consultants, and architects
- Meet clients, understand requirements, and collect drawings/project information
- Present, negotiate, and close quotations
- Maintain and report on the sales pipeline
- Remain the client’s single point of contact throughout the project lifecycle
- Offer AMC at handover and drive repeat business and referrals
Technical Estimation
- Conduct site surveys (room dimensions, ceiling heights, outdoor unit locations, duct/drain routes, electrical supply, installation access, condition of existing systems where relevant)
- Perform cooling load calculations (TR sizing) — never estimate by square footage alone
- Select appropriate system type and equipment (ducted split, VRF, or package unit) matched to load calculation and client budget
- Prepare HVAC layout, equipment schedule, BOQ, and cost estimate
- Obtain and compare equipment pricing from suppliers and installation pricing from subcontractors
- Prepare quotations with clear scope, inclusions, exclusions, timeline, and warranty terms
Project Management
- Coordinate approved HVAC subcontractors through installation, holding them to quality and schedule expectations
- Manage the project through defined control gates (survey → cooling load approval → drawing approval → deposit → procurement; and installation → testing/commissioning → client inspection → documentation issued)
- Attend or oversee testing and commissioning (cooling performance, airflow balancing, refrigerant pressure, drainage, electrical checks, thermostat operation)
- Manage client handover — warranty certificate, manuals, as-built drawings, maintenance schedule, demonstration
- Track projects against the standard delivery cycle and flag delays or scope issues early
